- FRD Consortium - "The FRD
Consortium is group of designers, experts, hobbyists and programmers
that develop specialized acoustic design tools and simple methodology
that streamline inter program operation based on Frequency Response
Data file exchange." These guys have written some of the most
useful tools for loudspeaker design I've ever used. Stop by and
check them out.

- WinISD ~ Internet Speaker Designer
by Juha Hartikainen. One of the most popular
programs for speaker modeling due its easy-to-use interface.
Models sealed, ported, and bandpass enclosures. Graphs
frequency response, phase, group delay and maximum SPL.
Complete with a large driver library and allows you to easily add to
it with your own drivers. The one thing I love about this
program is the ability to choose either
standard or metric units for all parameters. Mach levels are calculated.
Signal generator built in and does really cool sweeps.
815 K .exe
file.

- DOS BoxModels by Bob
White. If you still love using DOS-based software, then
these are the programs for you. Models ported, sealed, bandpass,
passive crossovers, and even transmission lines. Very complete
and easy to use. His site also includes various other
downloads for speaker analyzing such as System Simulator and a Delay Lattice calculator,
a complete derivation of Benson-Thiele-Small model, and a comprehensive Loudspeaker System modeling program
(FlexSys). Lots of good stuff.

- KB Acoustics - Visual Ears
~ Visual Ears will
help you find a "listening sweet spot" which minimizes the
effects of standing waves (20-200Hz) and boundary reflections
(20-500Hz). Visual Ears is recognized as an essential tools in
listener and speaker positioning. Visual
Ears produces a graph plotting Frequency versus SPL for all axial
room standing wave modes up to 220Hz at the listeners position.
There is a different color graph marker for each of the room
dimensions. Adjust the speaker and listening position to get most of
the markers inside the dotted area.
500K Demo version is free.

- Speaker Pro 6.0
~ I haven't used this program one bit. It's in
DOS. It does all the basic stuff but the user interface
is somewhat complicated. I'm sure it does a lot of stuff
that's great and useful. Check it out and see what it will do
for you. www.hometown.aol.com/speaker60E/load.htm
