07.29.07 - So it's been a couple of months since I broke out the ole' 18T.  After the spur gear was cooked, I stuck in on the shelf until just this afternoon when I decided to pull it down and get it running again.  I replaced the spur gear with a new 60T and then went ahead and cleaned out the entire car from the diffs to the shocks.  There was so much dirt and grime in the ball diff housings, it was creating a lot of wear on the ring and pinion gears.  So I cleaned those up really good, now the whole drive train is smooth as silk.  And while the car was apart, I decided to dump the stock 27-turn 540 and install a 10-turn Trinity D6 Single and GT7 speed control.  I put in a brand new M2.0 Ice Blue SSG carbon graphite motor plate as well.  It matches the battery tie down, which now serves as my ESC bracket.  Then I threw back in that 11.1V 3S li-po (which isn't a great fit for the truck, but it works) and went for a spin.  Though I don't have any video (yet) dude, this thing freaking screams.  It is outright unbelievably fast.  I can't keep on the throttle for more than 1 second before it's all the way down the street.  It literally spins out at will and so far there is no end to how much power there is.  It's great, I absolutely love it.  I can't wait to get some more wheel-time on it, it is completely insane, like nothing I've ever driven before.  So here's some pics.  If you take a look at that sticker on the D6 is says 106.7 Nm/m of torque - wow, that's killer. It has a max RPM of about 39,500 at 7.2V.  Wanna know what it is at 11.1V?  It's crazy, that's what it is.  Theoretical top speed with this setup and a 25-tooth pinion is about 60MPH (assuming the tires don't balloon, which they do, so much so that the front and rear tires almost touch).

04.05.07 - As if a 540 in an RC18T wasn't enough, I decided to try it out with a 3-cell li-po battery.  That's 11.1V to what is basically a full-scale 540 motor in a 1/18th scale car.  We managed to get some video of it before completely toasting the spur gear.  It was sickeningly fast, faster than the video really shows.  But here it is anyway, the 540 RC18T with a 3-Cell Lithium-Polymer battery pack.  Remember, this is a stock 540 motor, so there's still plenty of room for more speed.  But 47MPH isn't bad.

3-cell  Lithium-Polymer 540-Powered RC18T

04.05.06 - Finally, some video of my RC18T!  I shot this vid of my car while driving it, so it's basically as good as I can drive with one hand.  Setup is a Team Epic 540 Binary2 Outlaw and a MaxAmps 2100mAh 2S li-po.  It's sickening fast.  Dan's 540 Li-po RC18T Video Clip (25MB).

2-cell  Lithium-Polymer 540-Powered RC18T
